The Grand Army of the Republic Project - understanding the impact of previous Veterans Organizations in Millerton & North East

The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a large multi-faceted organization (fraternal lodge, charitable society, special interest lobby, patriotic group, and political club) founded in 1866. Both Millerton & Amenia NY had their own GAR Posts. Information includes a brief overview of each post, charter members, roster of known members, limited news articles, as well as some of the official correspondence. Click here to see the collation. If you have any additional information regarding these two posts, please email the post historian at history@legionpost178.org
