Walter Reed Army Medical Center Visit - May 30 & 31, 2009

American Legion Post 178 is set to visit Walter Reed Army Medical Center on May 30th and 31st 2009, in order to honor those who have been wounded in the Global War on Terror. We will be leaving early on May 30th from the Legion and traveling by Bus to Washington DC. Our trip will include a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and some of the Memorials on the Mall in Washington DC. Our Barbeque and Picnic will with our Wounded Warriors and their families will start at 11am on Sunday May 31st. Following its conclusion we will be returning to New York.

White-Tail Deer Seminar with Charles J. Alsheimer on Aug 29th!

     On Saturday August 29, 2009 American Legion Post 178 is conducting a Fundraising Seminar featuring renowned sportsman, hunter, photographer and writer Charles J. Alsheimer.

     The Seminar hosted by Post 178 will be held at the new Kildonan School Athletic Facility at 425 Morse Hill Rd in Amenia NY. Doors for the event will open at 12pm and more

 

 
 
   
VA Hospital Visits - On Going - Next Visit is To Be Determined
American Legion Post 178 started in 2008 conducting visits to the VA Hospital at Castle Point NY. In 2008, two such visits were conducted, with our goal of increasing that number in 2009.

Meet at Legion Home at 12:00pm and depart by 12:15pm. We plan to arrive at the VA Hospital by 1:15pm. Upon our arrival we will meet up with the Veterans who are receiving care there and host the BINGO event with them.

We are asking for the following donations:

Music CD's (Country / Rock / Easy Listening / Big Band), Small CD Players and Batteries, Size Large: Sweat Shirts, Collared Shirts (Flannel), Cotton Socks, T-Shirts, Service Hats (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines), Toiletries, Sugar Free Cookies & Pies (Apple, Cherry, Blueberry), and Money for VA Canteen Books.
